Inpatient Mental Health Treatment: Why Choose Us?

Your well-being matters to us. At Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital, we develop a treatment program that helps you achieve your goals.

People come to us when they’re feeling their worst. We help you feel welcome, comfortable and, most importantly, supported.

Everyone has different experiences and backgrounds. We help you start on your journey to recovery and wellness and get you ready for your next steps.

Highlights of our program include:

  • Compassion: Caring is at the heart of everything we do. We’re invested in your success and helping you achieve it.
  • Care for the individual: We carefully consider your needs and tailor a treatment plan to fit you.
  • Variety of treatment methods: People respond in their own way to different therapy approaches. That’s why we offer several treatments, including talk therapy, group therapy and expressive therapies like art, dance and yoga.
  • Support for substance use disorders: While we are not a substance use disorder treatment facility, we provide education, support and medication for many people dealing with dependence on alcohol or drugs.
  • Aftercare planning: We can help connect you with services you need so you can take your next steps when you leave here, including outpatient counseling and assistance with housing and food.

Psychiatric Treatments We Provide

We use evidence-based treatments to help you achieve progress and healing. We regularly assess your progress, adjusting your therapy as needed so it continues to meet your treatment goals.

Types of psychiatric therapy we offer include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): The goal of CBT (talk therapy or psychotherapy) is to help you make sense of your mental and emotional health.
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): This talk therapy helps you manage intense emotions. DBT is especially helpful for mood disorders and suicidal ideation.
  • Motivational interviewing: Using this counseling process can help you find the motivation to make positive changes in your life.
  • Short-term psychodynamic therapy: This focused therapy helps you understand the origins of your feelings and develop coping skills.
  • Solution-focused therapy: You work on creating short-term, achievable goals and finding ways to achieve those goals.
  • Expressive arts therapies: Art, music, dance and yoga therapy give you the chance to process your feelings in different ways, helping reduce anxiety or depression.
  • Medication management: Psychiatric medication is an important part of treatment for many people. We work with you to find the medication option that helps you and manage any other health conditions requiring medication.

Community and Family Support

Supportive relationships are vital to your mental health. We involve your support community in your treatment — whether that’s family, friends, coworkers or others. We encourage them to participate in your care in a way that works for both of you. You’re encouraged to have visitors during your stay. We also connect you to essential community resources so you feel supported and cared for when you leave here.

Expressive therapies we offer include:

  • Art therapy
  • Dance therapy
  • Music and movement therapy
  • Recreational therapy
  • Yoga

Animals can make a big difference for a lot of people. We have weekly visits from Candy, a goldendoodle certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

Mental Health Disorders We Treat

We treat people experiencing a mental health crisis who need inpatient care. These people may be a danger to themselves or others around them. They may have trouble functioning in their daily lives.

Mental health disorders we treat include:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Depression
  • Grief
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Psychosis
  • Schizophrenia
  • Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
  • Trauma

Discharge Planning

A hospital stay is the first step on the path toward recovery. During your stay, you develop tools and strategies for managing your mental health, so you can take care of yourself and seek help when you need it. Once you leave, we encourage you to continue with outpatient therapy and get support from loved ones.

Our social workers begin planning for your discharge as soon as you arrive. Your discharge plan depends on your individual situation. We assess your challenges and connect you with resources for housing, food, transportation and other needs. We also check in with you after you’ve left here.

If you can’t return home, we look for alternative housing solutions. We can connect you with a community case manager if you need it. These case managers can help you navigate the social service system and reach your goals after leaving the hospital.
